Working Principle
Atmospheric pressure floating roof storage tanks are the most common type of tank in petrochemical enterprises, including storage areas. Although they are called atmospheric pressure storage tanks, the pressure in their internal gas phase space also fluctuates frequently. The sources of pressure fluctuations usually include changes in the volume of the gas phase space caused by material loading and unloading, as well as changes in the gas phase temperature of the tank caused by the external environment.

General Selection Principles
Since there are fluctuations in gas phase pressure, it is necessary to adjust the gas phase pressure in a continuously variable speed manner. In the early stages of construction, storage tanks were generally equipped with discharge ports above the tank walls, which were completely connected to the atmosphere. Later, in order to reduce the emission of atmospheric VOCs, more storage tanks were installed with breathing valves, single breathing valves, and even sealed oil and gas recovery facilities. A typical characteristic of atmospheric pressure storage tanks brought about by this technological improvement is the continuous enhancement of pressure characteristics in the gas phase space inside the tank. Based on this, a series of pressure relief facilities have been used to solve this increasingly significant pressure characteristic. Among them, breathing valves are a type of conventional pressure relief facility, also known as non emergency pressure relief facilities. Another type is emergency pressure relief facilities.
